"How the Queen Dispenses Alms" is set in the fictional west Wales town of Mainford Hafan, and centres upon the events around one of the many Queen Silver Jubilee street parties of 1977. St Lukes road is a fairly ordinary little terrace street, with its mixture of families, older residents and local characters, but when two of the families take it upon themselves to organise the big Jubilee party, the underlying tensions and rivalries behind the house facades begin to surface, with explosive results at the big event itself.

The play was performed at the Harrow Arts Centre during the Metrowords Literature Festival in May, 2007, and subsequently at the RecFest Performing Arts Day in July of that year. Featuring a professional cast of largely local actors, the production was also a first step towards setting up a Harrow based professional theatre group.
