Pastel, Acrylic and Oil Portraits

All fairly recent portraits, these are a mixture of family, friends and students from my art classes. They are all done in different media, pastels, oils and acrylics, and are bright and direct in approach. The face is an endlessly interesting subject, each one unique and gifted with its own particular light. Capturing something of the sitter’s expression is always a fascinating challenge in art, and it’s a task I’ve always found one of the most satisfying.
